Mitchell’s ancestry is the Mudi Dudi tribe, who’s traditional land is the fertile Twin rivers region. This is where the Murrumbidgeeand Murray Rivers meet in Victoria and where he is inspired by the richness and colour of Australian “bush tucker”.
Mitchell began making artefacts around 20 years ago. Learningthe knowledge of his father-in-law and brother-in-law, Mitchell developed his totem, or guardian spirit, the snake (Midju). Mitchell predominantly works with Mallee woods.
