Rhuma’s heritage is from Taree a town on the Mid North Coast, New South Wales, and Australia. Her mob being the Biripi carry the totem’s Dolphin & Shark to which feature heavily within the artwork along with the cultural ties to the land.
Rhuma is a Melton, Victoria based artist to who has been embracing her heritage through Aboriginal Art from the time she was a child. Rhuma learnt to appreciate and hone her skills as an artist through growing up around Aboriginal Elders within her community, which actively practiced traditional methods. Rhuma embraces this time spent with the Elders and actively involves her children to which they are now producing significant cultural artwork in their own right.
