Mitchell’s ancestry is the Mudi Dudi tribe, whose traditional land is the fertile Twin rivers region, where the Murrumbidgee and Murray Rivers meet in Victoria where he is inspired by the richness and colour of Australian “bush tucker”. 

Mitchell began making artefacts around 20 years ago.  Learning the knowledge of his father-in-law and brother-in-law, Mitchell developed his totem, or guardian spirit, the snake (Midju). Mitchell predominantly works with Mallee woods.
